Letters to the Editor, Circleville Herald
September 2005
Dear Editor,
We thank the literally hundreds of motorists who honked in support of
our
Vigil for Peace in Iraq on 2 September at the Pickaway County Courthouse. I
urge those who honked and all who mourn the tragedy of this war, bred of
post 9/11 fear and misjudgment, to write your congressmen and Senators
to
support the bipartisan "Homeward Bound Act", House Joint
Resolution #55
calling for withdrawal of US forces from Iraq.
Introduced by Rep. Walter Jones, Republican, former supporter of
the
Iraq war and original coiner of the term 'freedom fries"; the
Homeward
Bound Act allows us to begin the national self-examination we must
undergo
to recover our national character, damaged from having launched this
unnecessary conflict.
Our vigils will continue the First Friday of every month, 6:00 p.m.
(5:00 p.m. through winter) at
the
Courthouse and every Thursday, 6:00 p.m. at 9804 State Route 22 east. Thank
you
for honking in support.
Brad Cotton
